4th Annual Picnic Recap
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to and attended the Project Downtown 4th annual picnic this past weekend. From the water balloon fights, amazing food and even better company, I must say this was by far the best picnic we've had to date!
We hope you all had as much fun as we did and can't wait to do it all over again next year insha'Allah! ❤️
Feeding Our Cincinnati Neighbors 2015: Recap
Thank you so much to the volunteers, donors, and supporters who helped make our 4th annual Feeding Our Neighbors Food drive a huge success.
For the 4th straight year, we were able to surpass our fundraising goal to feed over 100 Cincinnati families in need. Thank you so much for your support. We couldn't do any of this without you.
Hygiene Kit Drive Held In Memory of UNC Students (WKRC News)
The nonprofit organization "Project Downtown Cincinnati" hosted a hygiene kit drive on Sunday afternoon at the Islamic Association of Cincinnati in Clifton. Volunteers honored the memory of three UNC students who were killed a few weeks ago by continuing their legacy of community service. They put together then passed out more than 200 kits to those in need.

'For the third straight year, Project Downtown Cincinnati will host the Feeding Our Neighbors food drive to provide Thanksgiving meals to more than 100 families.
For PDCincy’s co-director Farihah Ibrahim, distributing Dinner Kits been a learning opportunity, in that “there is no ‘typical’ family in need,” she says. “Everybody has a unique and often surprising story.”
Many of the families served never imagined they would be in their current position of need, so providing them the means to cook a meal together and share the experience of giving with one another—without having to worry about finding the funds to purchase a turkey or other side items and desserts—is huge, Ibrahim says.
“It brings them back to normal,” Ibrahim says. “Even if it's just for one meal, the Dinner Kits take that stress away. It takes the focus away from the money and back to their families.” '

'This thrifty documentary captures a Muslim community project in downtown Cincinnati to help combat hunger in the city. It's great to see local, communal efforts and young volunteers energetically participating in this needed human service. And its important to see the good work of Muslim organizations offsetting the negative mainstream media image.'
